Positive Mental Health

Living respectfully with ourselves and each other ...

At Our Lady of La Vang we work with each other and external agencies to ensure we provide a healthy, dynamic and joyful environment for the students, staff and families. We understand that too much stress and feelings of disempowerment can be distressing to people and communities, causing despair and hopelessness.

Every person and every community has a right to experience a healthy, enjoyable and meaningful life and we endeavour to live this in the school community. We participate in ongoing professional development in understanding mental health and in mindfulness training.

The Mind Matters program has six principles which underpin the development of  hopeful and healthy experiences in mental health:

  • Young people are at the heart of a mentally healthy school
  • Respectful relationships underpin mental health
  • Young people are actively involved in their own and others mental health
  • Schools, health agencies & community work together
  • Families have a significant role to play
  • Diversity is respected & valued

Why we value what we do.

"I have come that you may have life and have it to the full" (John 10:10)
